These tables show exactly which Armenian character each physical key produces in the keyboard on this site. The tool and this page use the same mapping data, so what you read here is what you get when you type.
Armenian Phonetic
Matches the base and Shift layers of the Microsoft Windows Armenian Phonetic layout. Letters are generally placed on Latin keys with a close sound, so A gives ա, S gives ս and B gives բ. This is the default layout.

How the mapping behaves
- Mapping follows the physical key position, so the layout works the same on QWERTY, AZERTY and QWERTZ hardware and whatever language your system keyboard is set to.
- Shift selects the second layer: capital Armenian letters, and Armenian punctuation such as ։ ՞ ՜ « ». Every letter of the alphabet has both a lowercase and an uppercase key.
- On the Eastern and Western layouts the Shift layer of the number row gives digits on the punctuation keys, capital letters on the letter keys, և on 7 and the parentheses on 8 and 9. The numeric keypad always types digits.
- The tables reproduce the Windows base and Shift assignments exactly, including punctuation, digits and the ligature և (U+0587).
- Ctrl/Cmd shortcuts such as copy, paste, select all, undo and redo keep working while you type.
